Claims Review Specialist

The role

Chekmark is hiring Claims Review Specialists to read claim files independently and write up what they find. You will work through files before they close — checking that coverage was applied as the policy reads, that the documentation supports the decisions taken, and that what was paid matches the record.

Findings are written, cited and specific: the document, the date, and the rule the finding turns on. You will sometimes be disagreeing with an experienced adjuster in writing, so being able to make a case calmly matters.

This is a contract engagement, fully remote within the United States. You hold one line of business and arrange your hours around agreed turnaround times.

What you'll do

• Read assigned claim files end to end, including notes and attachments
• Check that coverage was applied consistently with the policy language
• Audit documentation for gaps that would not hold up under later scrutiny
• Verify payment calculations, deductibles and offsets against the file
• Write findings with citations and a clear recommended action

What we're looking for

• Exposure to claims, insurance operations, underwriting support or audit work
• Comfortable reading policy language and long file notes
• Able to write a finding that an experienced adjuster will take seriously
• Independent judgement — you can hold a position and explain it
• Based in the United States and able to work as an independent contractor

• $27–$35 per hour depending on line of business and review experience
